Hello, my name is Pen, and I am the creator of Cambridge Workplace Wellbeing. I have been teaching traditional Yoga and practicing healing therapies in and around Cambridge for the last 17 years, in both the public and private sector, business and education. I grew up in Cambridge and have worked and lived in London, experiencing just how busy and unhealthy fast paced business life can be.

I turned to Yoga and healing therapies to firstly help myself. It was then only a matter of time that I went on to train in order to help others. Through my work, I am seeing more and more people suffering from pain, stress and ill health, much of which could be avoided with a little bit of awareness of how to live and work more harmoniously.

I am passionate about reaching more people in order to improve their wellbeing. Many individuals only start to seek help for their health once things have become chronic. Some might never have thought to attend a Yoga class or considered how meditation or massage could help them. I wish to simplify and demystify these health giving practices, so people can employ them and benefit from them in their everyday lives. The healthier we feel, the happier we are, the better we live.

OFFICE CHAIR MASSAGE

Office Chair Massage can be a wonderful treat for staff or part of a regular health maintenance programme. Back pain, stiff neck and shoulders, headaches, hand and facial tension, can all be addressed in a seated massage. When restrictions are removed, the circulation and energy flow improves, and individuals generally become more alert, focussed and energised. Typical sessions are 15 minutes and performed seated, through the clothes. There is therefore minimal disruption to the rest of the working day. Companies are finding this is a great way to lure staff back into the office, when they have become used to working at home.

YOGA / MINDFULNESS / MEDITATION

YOGA / MINDFULNESS / MEDITATION

Drawing from the health systems of Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation, sessions can be tailored to suit the needs of your employees. Tuition in these methods can bring a multitude of benefits. PHYSICAL HEALTH: participants become more aware of their bodies, posture and breath. Gentle movement and stretching helps to remove tension from the body, and learning to breathe properly brings greater vitality. Spinal health, circulation, digestion, energy levels, concentration etc, are all improved. EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL WELLBEING: participants start to become aware of negative patterns of thinking. They can learn to master their thoughts and therefore direct the mind and emotions to become more positive. This in turn helps to reduce stress, depression and improve mental health. Sessions can be live, online, or kept as a recorded resource. Clients have reported that these sessions are a great way to bond members of staff, through sharing positive experiences together.

For example, have you noticed an increase in back tension, sciatica, headaches, anxiety etc, amongst your employees? It is no surprise, as people are sitting down at computers for an increasing amount of time. You may be sat looking at this website right now, and be completely unaware of how you are sitting or breathing! Or you may glance around at your team and notice people hunched over their desks. All this can lead to chronic problems, such as rounded shoulders, nerve ache in arms, frequent headaches, hip and lower back pain, eye strain and mood disorders etc. Having a good desk and chair only helps so far. Workshops such as Postural Awareness, aim to make individuals aware of what they are doing with their bodies, spotting common ailments and teaching techniques to address them. Workshops can be live, online, or recorded as a usable resource to give to all employees.
